It’s here, it’s here. Well, Valentine’s Day is almost literally tomorrow. Let me ask, have you bought your loved one a gift? Luckily this year I was on top of it and sent my husband a gift early to beat the rush. If you are like the old me then you scrambling for a gift, right? If you live in Kansas City or the surrounding area, don’t fret I got you.
Chocolate is never a bad option (that is unless you’re allergic to chocolate). Andre’s Confiserie Suisse in Kansas City is one of the top Chocolatiers in the area. How could I possibly know that? Well, several transactions and maybe a pound to the waist later I can say it truly is. My old employer use to purchase Andre’s Chocolates for the whole company during the holidays. As a former employee I could not wait to see what delicious creations would be on my desk.
I finally took the time out to visit Andre’s and the chocolatier truly exceeded my expectations. It’s conveniently located south of the Country Club Plaza with a parking lot and easy access. The retail section not only sells bonbons, a huge array of chocolate creations, pastries and more. While chocolate may not be your fancy, you can enjoy food at their restaurant or modern café as well.
Here are some of my favorites: If you love spicy try the Smoked Chili Pepper Caramel. At first bite, you enjoy the dark chocolate but as you swallow a light heat follows. If you love salty try the Fleur De Sel Caramels they are great in dark or milk chocolate topped with Flue De Sel. Lastly, you cannot go wrong with the macaroons. I repeat – you cannot go wrong with the macaroons. I tried the macaroons in the Strawberry and Salted Caramel flavors. Warning: They are dangerously addictive so if you go back for more I will not be held liable.
