Urbana KC is a new downtown street scene happening each first Wednesday, all summer. We’ve re-imagined a familiar city block and kept out the cars so you can eat and drink under the stars, hear live music, see public art displays and share a uniquely Kansas City summer experience, all in the heart of the Kansas City Power & Light District neighborhood.
As a first timer attending the event, I didn’t know what to expect. But I knew that having a stressful work week; I was ready to unwind. As I entered the reserved city block, it as like stepping into an adult oasis. My eyes light up with glee with every step.
The scene was complete with giant games such as Connect Four, Jenga, Bean Bag toss and more. There was no need to leave the event to dine as every few feet you could find delectable bites of food from local restaurants. Of course, what would the event with be without libations which perfectly paired with each bite, right? I was in pure heaven as I enjoyed the adult version of my childhood treat – Mr. Freez-E.
My sistah-friend, Jasmine of JasmineDiane and enjoyed every bit of the event. The best part was catching up with each other, as we sipped, ate, played games and unraveled the workday away. If you are looking for a magical evening complete with cool vibes, mellow music, delectable bites and drinks – then you need to UrbanaKC – it’s the stress reliever every adult needs.
UrbanaKC and KCPL District, “Thank you” for being the event I needed to ooze away the stress from the workday.
I am all for a game of giant Jenga… anywhere.. anyplace!
It’s good that you were able to unwind and find some peace. This is my type of event, but unfortunately, they don’t occur too often out here where I am. I am hoping that changes.
