Raise A Hand for Teachers

Did you know the average teacher in Missouri makes $35,000? To some $35,000 is a great salary, but is it really enough to cultivate the minds for the youth. Teachers not only educate our children, but often times they motivate them to strive for greatness. Being a teacher can be a hard job, when you are not acknowledged the hard work you do every day. Invest in the lives of our youth takes a special person.

That’s why, I am participating in the ThredUp Raise a Hand for Teachers Program in partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org, which recognizes and thanks teachers for their hard work and sacrifice in and outside of the classroom. A teacher’s no. 1 endeavor is to make a positive impact on the lives of our children. Teachers are not only liberal in their time with our children, but did you know on average they spend $500 a year to equip their classroom?

Being a teacher is a tireless and often times unacknowledged job. But yet, teachers come back to work day after day and teach. With that said, I am nominating two of my children’s teachers for their diligent and heart-filled efforts in their lives. Want to help a teacher that has made an impact on the life of your child? Below you will find some of the funny and touching reasons as to why my daughters are nominating their favorite teachers.

Here is what my children said about their teachers. – I will have a beautiful photo with their teachers or classroom and include the following below.

Then I will say my reason for nominating each teacher.

I nominated Ms. Homicki from James Walker Elementary who was my daughter Kendall’s (Kindergarten Teacher) because, during my daughters kindergarten year she has developed and made her excited about reading. Also, my daughter was not very excited about school. But after being in Ms. Homicki’s teaching style has made my daughter a sponge wanting to learn as much as she can. Now that my youngest is going into the first grade, she will be on their reading level going in and can’t wait until school starts.

I also nominate Mrs. Teague from James Walker Elementary who was my daughter’s first grade teacher. Mrs. Teague is by far the best teacher. She is patient, loving, and truly cares for the children in her classroom. My daughter is very sweet and sensitive. Mrs. Teague approach to teacher is very nurturing. She truly wants each and every student to be successful and this is why I am nominating her.

This is such a great program! I agree that teachers aren’t nearly paid or recognized enough for all their efforts. Hope you’re having a great day!

35,000 here in Atlanta is nothing you can’t even afford an apt and car note along and if you do it will be very very tough. Teachers don’t get paid nearly enough of what they should be getting paid. Great program

The models used for this sight are gorgeous! I fortunately don’t have any more children in school.

This is great. Teachers do so much and deserve to make more. This is a great way to also acknowledge them and all they do.

Teachers really are our communities most valuable asset. This program seems like a good thing. Thanks for sharing this…

Both my parents were teachers. While my mom’s salary wasn’t as low as 35k, it was really a tough job. It’s difficult sometimes for them to show kids one thing because they want them being great and their parents basically saying the opposite. I love this idea and will definitely be sharing.

I heard about this program. I have to say I could never be a teacher. I do great with my daughter at home, but it takes a special person who truly loves teaching and nurturing children to be a teacher of so many. This is a great cause.
