My second stop on my summer BBQ tour is PlowBoys Barbecue in Blue Springs, Mo. It was refreshing to find a barbecue joint in my neck of the woods. PlowBoys Barbecue is not stranger when it comes to competition, as a matter of fact you would say they are the authority. They have won a variety of awards for their best-selling meats, including the highly coveted American Royal Barbecue Award.
PlowBoys restaurant sets the bar high when it comes to a barbecue joint, their updated interior and spacious dining room will have you wondering do they serve barbecue. The staff is friendly, outgoing, willing to assist if you have trouble narrowing down what to order. Of course, I am one that loves to be different. I was intrigued by option of barbecue nachos, the picture looked amazing.
I ordered the barbecue nachos, while my husband ordered the mix plate. Here’s the rundown:
- At the suggestion of the employee I ordered the nachos with brisket.
- The brisket was tender, smoky, and gave the nachos a unique twist.
- Be sure to order the nachos with everything that includes: queso, sour cream, jalapenos, and bbq sauce.
- The baked beans on the mix plate were definitely canned.
- The pulled pork was amazing.
- The ribs were tender with a delicious smoky flavor.
- The coleslaw was vinegar based. I did not care for it, but then again I’m not a fan of vinegar based coleslaw.
Suggestion: I recommend you try the barbecue nachos, ribs, and pulled pork at PlowBoys.
