It seems as if everyone is coming out with a monthly subscription. You can practically find anything from food, beauty, clothing and etc. I have been a long time subscriber to Birchbox, for $10 a month you will receive sample size and full size products to try. The majority of the products I receive are catered to me.
Black Girl Beauty Founder Krista Thrope just launched her first beauty box in September. The monthly box subscription cost’s $20 a month, which includes 4-6 luxury items a month. Krista also includes a themed card, which explains why and what she likes about the product and how to use them. # Winning
Now that you know about the two boxes lets compare, Shall we?
October Birchbox theme – Beauty Buzz informational card
Pop Aqua Lacquer What: A sheer gloss, which plumps and hydrates with jojoba oil. I found this product to be overly minty.#Nobueno
dr. brandt Microdermabrasion skin exfoliant What: This breakthrough at home treatment for a glowing complexion – no pricey derm appointment required. This ultra smooth microdermabrasion treatment is awesome, it left my skin uber soft to the touch. #Winning
Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum What: This antiaging SPF 30 serum, which creates a weightless UV shield, can be worn year-round. I admit I’m bias to sunscreens, with that being said.. Stand back Supergoop, You’re on back up until I run out of my favorite.#ItsOk
ChapStick What: The new Chapstick hydration lock lip balm. This classic lip balm with a new twist did softened my lips, but it does not provide 8 hours of moisture.
Atelier Cologne – Orangie Sauguine What: This versatile, distinctive cirtus blend that lasts and lasts and lasts. I’m not sure if this cologne is suppose to be unisex. I found the smell to be sexy…on a man rather than on me. #Gavetomyhubster #HimSmellGood
Black Girl Beauty Box
Nice packaging
Information card
What: This succulent scent transport you while the blend of organic coconut based cleansers and oils nourish and smooth your skin. 100% vegan and infused with antioxidants. I had no idea Mixed Chicks had a body line. I love their leave in conditioner, So when I received this I was excited to give it a try. It seems amazing and moisturized my skin. My only gripe is that it’s a glycerin bar. So it goes fast.
What: Kitko Advanced Hair Therapy Oil Treatment – A hair oil to prep and protect your hair. A combo of Karite and Argan oils revitalize, strengthen and condition the hair. I have naturally curly hair. So I decided to test out this hair oil treatment on my blown dry hair. I must say, this oil treatment is awesome! This product moisturized my hair and left it so soft and silky. #ContemplatingBuyingTheFullSize
Sephora – Photo finish Primer This primer does what is says.. I used this prior to applying my makeup. I noticed my makeup looked smoother and finished perfectly.
Korres Lip Butter Glaze – A rich, buttery lip balm that melts on the lips and offers a shiny, tinted finish. I absolutely loved this lip balm. The application was smooth, not sticky and smells so delicious!
As you can see the color was a natural nude/pink. I love it as an everyday look.
It was hard for me to choose, I love both boxes….But, I’m going to go with BirchBox for $10 this month. I received a variety of items to try. I love trying lots of new things. Although, Black girl beauty does have luxury size samples, for $20 a month. The thrifter in me says, you can do better. Let’s see who wins the next month….
