I was excited to be given the opportunity to attend Kansas City Fashion Week. It seems as if each year the designers and their fashionable creations are better than the last season. The anticipation leading up to the show was most eventful. I ordered the perfect show stopper dress from ASOS, only to realize I ordered the UK size. The UK size happens to be two sizes too small in the US size. I scrambled to find just the right outfit.
Staying true to myself I stuck with what my signature style “contemporary-classics”. I describe “contemporary classic” as classic with a new modern twist. For example, everyone should have a white oxford in their wardrobe. A white oxford with a ruffle collar or tulip cuffs – now that’s contemporary. I found the perfect outfit in winter white from TJ Maxx; I was initially imitated by the size (which shall remain untold). Once I was in the dressing room it fit perfectly.
This year, I decided to only share with you my favorites from the fashion show.
Architexture by: John & Christina Moncke
Architexture’s style was softly structured with feminine details. I loved the flat front pleat skirts and the soft contrast of the summertime tops. My favorite out of this line was the jacket. The charcoal gray was a nice color choice from the standard black. But the details had me in awe; the invert asymmetrical bottom, the cinched waist and the overlapped collar. This line was by far my favorite from the evening.
Kate Walz absolutely mesmerized the audience at KC Fashion Week last year with her rendition of starry nights and dreamy gowns. This year, Kate’s decides pushed the limits. The designer went totally left field. Instead of amazing gowns, she opted for capes and soft over coats that made you want to twirl. The designs were extended in ruffle details which gave each piece a luxurious touch.
I love your outfit! That must have been so disappointing when the dress you ordered wasn’t the right size. You definitely found another show stopper, though:) Looks like it was a great time!
