This is part two of my Fab Friday Feature. I met Ivy (of Wakeup for Makeup) a month ago at the Go Blog Social conference. It was during a break in the conference when I saw this gorgeous face as those in the makeup world would say, “Her was beated” meaning her makeup was impeccably applied. I asked the young woman about her makeup. As we spoke, I truly admired her perfect eyebrows. I further inquired how she perfected her technique, unlike most she shared her secrets.
After speaking, We exchanged cards and I asked if she had a eyebrows tutorial. She replied “No, But maybe I should do one”. Lucky for you, when you visit her site there are now several listed. *squeals with glee*Now that you know a little history on how Ivy and I met. I would love to introduce you to Ivy of Wakeup for Makeup.
1) What inspired you to blog?
I was inspired to start Wake Up For Makeup because I literally had to! I couldn’t stop talking about makeup with friends, coworkers, random strangers, my poor husband! I badly needed an outlet for my mounting obsession. I’m so glad I started my blog. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made and as a creative person, it’s my personal canvas. That, and my face.
2) What’s the story behing your blog name?
Oh my gosh-do you know that no one has ever actually asked me this?! Thank you! I called it Wake Up For Makeup because it’s true! From the moment I wake up in the morning, until the moment my head hits the pillow, I am thinking about, writing about, researching, shopping for or doing makeup. I also called it this because sometimes when I buy a new product, I look forward to waking up the next day so I can try it out!
3) Can you share one of your makeup secrets?
My favorite little tip is to apply a warm, matte brown to the crease of your eye before you apply any other color. It makes your whole eye look more polished, it serves as a transition color and it also serves as a map and guideline for the rest of your shadow. This was a total game changer for me when I started doing this.
4) Can you share something about yourself with my readers?
Something that I’d like to share is that I’m a total cat lady. I love cats. If you follow me on Instagram, I’m sure you’ve seen them.
