It’s back! I am happy to bring you one of my first for September’s Fab Friday Feature. I discovered Nola Granola at the Go Blog Social conference, I attended back in April. Nola Granola was one of sponsors in the fabulous swag bags. I received the salted caramel granola flavor, interesting I thought. I waited until I got home to taste the granola. I devoured the entire bag in less than a minute. The seductive mixture of salty, sweet, and caramel goodness was beyond delicious. With that being said, I am so excited to introduce you to Nola Granola.
1) What inspired you to start a granola line?
Liz is the granola creator. She was trying to eat healthier and “clean”. She always needed a snack for the mid-afternoon hungers at the office, but chips and candy bars were not diet friendly. She thought of granola, but couldn’t find one that was flavorful enough to satisfy her craving. So, she created the original recipe that is now Cranberry Coconut.
2) What’s the story behind your company name?
You can find the full story here… http://mynolagranola.indiemade.com/blog/whats-name. But, Nola is my daughter, who is named after New Orleans. Her nickname has always been Nola Granola since she was a baby. When thinking of a name for our granola business, Nola Granola immediately came to mind.
3) What is your hottest selling item?
Our Salted Caramel granola is by far the number one flavor. We make our own caramel sauce, using honey vs. corn syrup. Then we mix it with our granola during the baking process. The salt offset the rich sweetness of the caramel which coats the oats in a way that makes them crunchy, chewy. The result is a satisfying flavorful product with a toothsome chew – “deewishus” as my toddler says.
4) Can you share something with my readers? Do you have a new flavor you are working on or would like help with coming up with one?
We are always working on new flavors. We will be expanding our subscription service at the end of the year and our goal is to have a new flavor at least every other month. Any ideas would be welcome!
