Last year, I was contacted by founder Chantel Gant of Rubies, Inc. for an upcoming project. Rubies, Inc. is a local non-profit that helps underserved girls that aspire to attend college through mentoring programs and services. They approached me to help out with their spring Career Workshop and advised they were partnering with The Goodwill for a Fashion Show in the spring. Of course, I enthusiastically said “Yes”. I love the Goodwill and Fashion is right up my alley.
I participated in Fashion Shows growing up and attended quite a bit but never have I actually coordinated one. I took the knowledge I learned from previous fashion shows and put those to work. Last month, was by far the busiest month of my life. I scheduled styling sessions with six different models for fitting at The Goodwill.
Some of which had never stepped a foot into a Goodwill store or even went to a thrift store. By the time I styled each model, they had already made future plans to come back and shop. My work here was done, I thought. But wait there was one more thing to go, the actual fashion show.
I was blessed my gorgeous beauty-blogger friend, Amber from Brown Bombshell Beauty volunteered as the makeup artist for the show. It was the day of the show, the makeup, jewelry, and accessories were all set out. The models were getting dressed, I was running around like a crazy person putting last minute touches on everyone. It was my one of the biggest highs of my life! All the hard work I put in was almost in motion.
Without further ado, here are the fruits of my labor.
