I was invited to try out a few items at Providence New American Kitchen. Since the weather has begun to change, I wanted something that said “comfort”. I began my tasting with…
-
Three Grilled Cheese w/ Tomato Soup ($7)
Brie, Tillamook White Cheddar, Smoked Gouda
Mom, I am so sorry and I still love you! However, This is the “best” grilled cheese I’ve ever had! The thick bread was toasted with butter to a perfect crisp. The mixture of cheese’s (I would have never thought of marrying together) melted and paired nicely. The tomato bisque soup was slightly thicker than soup with a drizzle of basil oil on top – divine and the Parmesan cheese crouton – add a perfect balance of bite.

Nebraska Bison Hanger Steak * ($12)
Caramelized Onions, Cherry Tomatoes, Mozzarella Cheese, and Almonds with a house made vinaigrette.
I ordered this dish with confidence knowing that I have never eaten Bison. When the beautiful salad arrived it looked very appealing. My server informed me Bison is best when it is cooked medium. Upon, first bite..I thought. It’s light, flavorful, and not gamy at all. I added some salad mixture to my next bite of bison. It was a flavor explosion of crisp, cool, salad combined with pots of cherry tomatoes, crunchy almond, and delectable cheese. The bison on top just added the cherry. This salad is definitely something you can enjoy year round. It’s not heavy, but filling. The flavors are amazing, which will keep your fork in heavy rotation. This salad is a prize winner and it should not be shared. My advice, Have your guest order their own – You will “Thank me, later!”.
